Bury Grammar School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 and Early Years Practitioner to join our vibrant Pre-School team.

Job type: Full-time, Permanent.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8am-5pm), all year round. For interested candidates there is also the option of a term time only role plus 10/15 days.

Start date: March 2026

Bury Grammar School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 and Early Years Practitioner to join our vibrant Pre-School team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a nurturing environment that prepares our youngest pupils for their first steps into education.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our Pre-School provision, including Breakfast Club, After School Club, and Holiday Clubs, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and caring environment for children aged 3 to 6 years old.

The Department

Our Pre-School offers approximately 45 full-time places and is committed to fostering strong relationships between children, families, and staff. We aim to help every child grow into a happy, healthy, and confident individual, ready for the next stage of their education.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of engaging activities that promote learning and development.

Work collaboratively with the Head of Pre-School and teaching staff to maintain a purposeful and supportive learning environment.

Assist in wrap-around care provision, including Breakfast, After School, and Holiday Clubs.

Act as a Key Worker for a group of children, monitoring and recording their progress.

Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Holds a minimum Level 3 qualification and a Paediatric First Aid Certificate.

Has experience working in a Pre-School, Nursery, KS1, or similar setting.

Possesses excellent literacy and numeracy skills, and a sound understanding of the Early Years curriculum.

Demonstrates strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.

Is passionate about nurturing young children and committed to continuous professional development.
