Downe House is seeking to appoint a Part-time Teacher of History of Art to join our successful team from September 2026. We are a leading independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18, based in Cold Ash, Berkshire. The successful candidate will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who can teach History of Art at A Level standard and can inspire and motivate our pupils. The role is available on a part-time, permanent basis (minimum 0.4 to 0.6 FTE).
The History of Art Department follows the Edexcel A level syllabus (9HT0), and a large proportion of our pupils go on to study the subject at university and pursue a wide range of careers.
The History of Art Department collaborates with teams across the School to provide enrichment opportunities for pupils which includes the creation and design of short programmes of study for the Electives programme which offers a taste of the subject to younger pupils and those not studying the subject, providing gallery tours and residential trips tailored to the syllabus, and supporting our Creative Arts Scholars with workshops and theoretical support.
