Principal Role

The Headmaster and CEO of Eltham College Family of Schools seeks to appoint a Lunchtime Supervisor to work as part of a team who is responsible for supervising the dining hall to ensure that Junior and Senior School students can access lunches in a safe and orderly manner.

Main duties

  • Ensuring students enter the dining room in a safe and orderly fashion and behave appropriately when queueing for their meal;
  • Reminding students to observe appropriate hygiene procedure of using hand sanitizer upon entering the hall;
  • Ensuring students eating meals are seated in an orderly fashion, utilising the relevant behaviour sanctions systems or flagging behavioural concerns to an appropriate member of staff;
  • Assisting the catering team to ensure there are the correct number of chairs for students and that there are sufficient settings for the number of students eating that day;
  • Refilling of water jugs, attending to spillages, maintaining sufficient cutlery stocks for all users;
  • Informing facilities if a student has been ill and take any affected area out of use;
  • Assisting the students, as necessary, to ensure their well-being and health and safety;
  • Assisting the catering team to ensure that the dining area is wiped down and left clean and tidy ready for the next sitting;
  • Supervising other areas used by students during lunch times as required (e.g. outside);
  • Attending INSED and other training relevant to the role;
  • Carrying out any other reasonable requests, in line with the broad responsibilities of the role.

Eltham College is a highly successful independent day school in south-east London, educating boys and girls aged 7 to 18 across both Junior and Senior Schools. The College has grown considerably over recent years: there are now over 800 students in the Senior School and around 260 pupils in the Junior School and places are heavily oversubscribed. Since 2020, girls have been able to join Years 3 and 7, mirroring the Sixth Form which has been coeducational for over 45 years.
