This is an excellent opportunity to join a vibrant and highly successful department in an outstanding school, and to help set the vision for the future of this subject. The successful candidate would be expected to lead the transition from a Design and Technology Department (as at present) to a Design Engineering Department, with a focus on being a route to studying Engineering and other related technical subjects in higher education and beyond.
The Department promotes innovation, resourcefulness and independent learning, encouraging each pupil to reach his full potential through individual design and make projects. Hampton’s Design and Engineering pupils produce exceptional work, and in recent years, several Hamptonians have won highly prestigious Arkwright Scholarships, designed to nurture future leaders in Engineering and Technical Design.
Alongside teaching responsibilities the role will be responsible for the management of this large department and taking a lead role in developing both the Design, Technology and Engineering curriculum and co-curricular programme. Hampton is an academically selective school; the challenges include stretching the most able pupils up to Oxbridge level.
