Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill in north-west London. The School is located on a 324-acre estate which encompasses much of Harrow on the Hill and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 837 boys study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. The Department:

The Geography Department at Harrow School is housed in the Churchill Schools building where colleagues routinely have their own classroom, access to a departmental library, office and resource room. All colleagues teach across the age and ability range, tending to specialise in either Physical or Human Geography in the Sixth Form. The department is a close team, sharing resources at regular departmental meetings and working together effectively both in School and in the field.

The Role:

The successful applicant will teacher Geography within and outside the timetable at all levels throughout the school. They will be expected to make an enthusiastic contribution to the work of the department and further the high profile of the department among Harrovians. They will contribute to the Super-Curriculum, which includes Electives, lectures and other academic extension, attend Chapel regularly and Speech Room (assembly) one weekly. They will also be a tutor in a House, supporting the House Master in the pastoral care of a group of boys, teacher PSHEE to a tutor group and contribute to extra-curricular activities, which are an important part of boarding-school life.

Support and training to achieve Qualified Teacher Status can be offered if required. We occasionally appoint Masters with outstanding qualities and a good degree who do not have a formal teaching qualification.
