Laboratory Assistant
You will collect/return resources to/from stores, and clean laboratories, prep rooms and fragile equipment.

Contract length: Permanent
Working weeks: Full time, term time only, 33 weeks per year
Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The role: You will support the teaching of practical lessons by collecting and returning resources to/from stores, cleaning laboratories and prep rooms, and carefully cleaning fragile glass equipment. You may be involved in maintaining some equipment, will keep up to date with health and safety best practices and conduct stock checks when required. The skills: This position may suit someone with a background as a cleaner who is used to taking pride and care in providing a clean, well-organised environment. You will have fluent written and spoken English to read safety labels and comply with safety instructions, excellent attention to detail and a vigilance to uphold the highest standards of health and safety. Your friendly approachable manner will be an asset as you build good working relationships with your colleagues and the pupils.

The environment: Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 835 boys study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. There are eight masters and three support staff in Harrow School’s Chemistry Department. Lessons are taught on Monday to Saturdays with teaching each morning and three afternoons/evenings depending on the time of the year. Chemistry is taught in each year group in the recently opened Science Building.
