Support Matron

The Support Matron assists the Matrons in their respective Houses, covers for Matrons during their time off or if they are absent through illness and accompanies boys on medical / hospital appointments.

Contract details:

  • 15-20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends
  • Term time only, 33 weeks per year
  • Fixed term one year contract
  • Pay rate £16.11ph plus holiday pay

The role: You will assist the 12 House Matrons during their break times, time off or if they are absent. It is a varied role, spending time with the boys and providing pastoral support, accompanying boys to specialist medical appointments and emergency hospital visits, administering standard medication and providing pitch-side support during sporting afternoons and events. You will also assist colleagues with general tasks when it is busy in the Medical Centre. It is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting young people and wants to work part time whilst keeping themselves free during the school holidays. The skills: This role would suit a candidate who has informal or professional experience of caring for others, ideally young people. You will be a warm, empathetic person who is observant and proactive to ensure the wellbeing of those in your care. You will be flexible to deal with issues that are unplanned for, highly organised, demonstrably calm in an emergency and able to drive your own car. Your positive, practical approach and excellent written and verbal communication skills will enable you to build good relationships with colleagues, boys and parents.
