We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable SEN Learning Support Assistant working in our Junior Prep School, to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with additional needs. This is a key role within our nurturing and inclusive school community, and we are looking for someone who brings a wealth of experience of supporting children with additional needs.
This role is initially offered as a fixed-term opportunity until July 2027.
About the Role:
You will work closely with one child, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development throughout the school day. You will collaborate with the class teacher and SENDCo to adapt resources, implement strategies, and deliver targeted interventions that meet the child’s individual needs.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support tailored to the specific needs of a child with additional learning needs.
- Assist in delivering the curriculum and monitoring pupil progress under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Help establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Prepare and organise materials and resources for lessons and activities.
Person Specification:
We are looking for someone who:
- Is calm, patient, empathetic, and adaptable to different needs and situations.
- Has extensive experience in a similar role within a primary school setting.
- Possesses in-depth knowledge of supporting children with a range of additional needs, in particular neurodiversity.
- Ideally holds a HLTA level 4 or equivalent qualification
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Has strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- Is passionate about inclusion and committed to helping every child reach their full potential.
