We seek to appoint a Classics graduate to be an Assistant Teacher from September 2024. This envisaged as a full-time post for a year or two before progressing into a teaching post at King’s or elsewhere and a superb opportunity to join a thriving academic and all-round school with strong Classical traditions. Formal teacher training with QTS may be available in the second year of appointment.

Accommodation may be available.

The post is suitable for a person with a good Classics or Classics-related degree, who is keen to teach some Latin and Classical Civilisation courses from Year 9 to GCSE and A level with the possibility of contributing to the Gratin & Greek programmes depending on experience but this is not essential and candidates without Greek experience are encouraged to apply.

Full support will be provided and it is envisaged some sets will be shared and some taught solo, making a reduced timetable overall.

We are looking to appoint someone knowledgeable and charismatic who has the potential to become an excellent classroom practitioner in time. They should offer a strong academic record, energy and a genuine passion for Classics as well as good humour, administrative skill, diligence and initiative.

A teaching qualification is not expected for this role nor any experience teaching at school level but the successful applicant will have the ability to interact effectively with classes of teenagers.

Those considering applying but requiring more information, can contact the Head of Classics Mr Matthew Browning, for an informal discussion: mwb@kings-school.co.uk.
