We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish on a high part-time basis from September 2026.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Spanish.

This is a permanent role to start in September 2026. This is a high part-time role with a teaching timetable of 24 periods out of a possible 30 for a full-time member of staff (0.8 FTE). The successful candidate must be able to teach Spanish to A level in the context of highly able students; the ability to also teach French would be desirable. They must demonstrate strong subject knowledge and genuinely enjoy the process of inspiring able linguists.

Main Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing and teaching the classes assigned to them, using a range of strategies for teaching and classroom management to ensure that individual learning needs are met.
  • Ensuring that marking of students’ work is both regular and thorough and that full records are kept.
  • To regularly monitor the progress of all students in their teaching groups, taking account of individual learning needs to have a positive impact on student progress.
  • Liaising with the Learning Support Co-ordinator on strategies to support the progress of students on the Learning Support register.
  • Keeping abreast of current thinking and development in the subject area(s) as well as current affairs in the target language.
  • Assisting the Head of Department with the development of appropriate syllabuses, schemes of work and teaching styles.
  • Sharing resources and training materials with colleagues.
  • Taking responsibility for a year group taught as directed by the Head of Department, by contributing to resource and Scheme of Work creation and refinement.
  • Contributing to departmental activities, e.g. leading enrichment work, clubs, societies and trips abroad.
  • Taking responsibility for professional development and using the outcomes to improve teaching and learning; including keeping abreast of the developments in IT.
  • Attending whole school INSET sessions.
  • Attending departmental meetings and acting upon the action points shared in minutes.
