The Godolphin and Latymer School

Bursar

Godolphin and Latymer is one of the UK’s leading independent schools, offering a first-class education to more than 800 girls aged 11 to 18. Consistently ranked amongst the top schools in the country, Godolphin and Latymer combines outstanding academic achievement with a strong sense of community and a grounded and inclusive ethos. Individual talents are nurtured and championed at the School and students are encouraged to pursue their passions with creativity, energy, and commitment. The School’s historic buildings sit alongside modern facilities, tranquil gardens and courtyards, ensuring girls can thrive in a secure and inspiring learning environment in the heart of West London.

Diana Lynch will retire in 2025 after 30 years of outstanding service to the School. The Head and Governors are seeking a successor as Bursar to provide strong strategic, financial, and operational leadership. The appointee will ensure that Godolphin and Latymer continues to have robust finances and outstanding support services as well as playing a critical role in preparing the School for the opportunities and challenges of the future.

The successful candidate will have substantial generalist leadership and management experience gained in complex, multi-stakeholder settings. They will evidence outstanding relationship-building and communication skills, as well as the strategic ability to support the commercial development of Godolphin and Latymer. Working closely with the Head, the new Bursar will possess a personal ethos of service and a commitment to developing people. Existing school bursar experience is not a pre-requisite, and applications are encouraged from candidates from a wide range of commercial, charitable, private-sector, and public-sector backgrounds.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have some contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity. In this role you are unlikely to be working with children directly but will regularly interact with pupils who may seek your assistance or otherwise interact with you when moving around the school.
