Tormead School is an academically selective independent school for 800 girls aged 4–18, located a short stroll from the historic town centre of Guildford, just 40 minutes by train to London. Students attain excellent examination results with 90% attaining grade A*-B at A Level and 90% attaining a grade 7-9 at GCSE in 2025.

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Head of English to lead our thriving, supportive and successful English department to teach Key Stage 3, GCSE and A Level. Students attain excellent examination results.

The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for English. They will have previous experience of managing a team and be highly motivated with a firm grasp of curricular developments, inspire high standards in the classroom, have a warm approach, and be prepared for wider involvement in co-curricular activities. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work harmoniously with others, including students, colleagues, parents, and the wider community.
